Until about four years ago, I did not fully understand why a photographer would be drawn to real estate photography. Then I did my first real estate shoot. I was hooked!
What I love about this work is, actually, the whole process. First, there is the conversation with the client who looks forward to the images. Then there is the excitement of the initial walk through the property. Next come the feelings of creativity and inspiration during the shoot. There is an incredible feeling that comes with finding the best light and best angle to bring out the strongest quality of a space. Finally, when all is said and done, I find there is a deep satisfaction, a sense of pride in bringing out the character of a home, a bed and breakfast, an office building, land or any other piece of property!
For me, a real estate shoot challenges me in ways I fully enjoy. From accents of lighting, to showing off areas of interest using different angels, various lenses and/or cameras, a shoot such as this allows me to contemplate and capture the best aspects of a place.
When all is said and done, in real estate photography I am driven by a similar sense that accompanies my nature, people, abstract or fine art photos. My goal is to help others see and appreciate the beauty I see. The arena is different, but the overall goal is the same.
